“Peter Dundas showed off his signature sex appeal for Emilio Pucci’s Fall 2012, crafting a decadent line in fur, sheer, and rich leather detail. It was a little like sensory overload at Pucci — that’s not to say that it’s not all done with perfect precision — there’s just a lot to take in. When Dundas isn’t honing his craft on ultra-sexy evening wear — full-length, figure-flaunting gowns with sheer cutouts or embellished detail — he offers up brilliant print on both slouchy suiting and drama-inducing frocks. Nearly everything gets the luxe treatment; if it’s not a fur tossed nonchalantly over gowns and metallic suiting, alike it’s skirts and shifts finished in textured croc — and a leg-baring slit to go with practically anything. Still to sum it all up in red-carpet glamour would mean missing the menswear-inspired coats and tuxedo jacket paired with smart cropped trousers and finished in sharp white and black or soft powder blue. Dundas zeroes in on both the super-sexy and the smarter stuff here — and in all things, he stuns.”

Dolce & Gabbana F/W 12.13 Milan via Guardian.

“There was mood of opulence in Milan on Sunday, as fashion powerhouse Dolce & Gabbana showcased its autumn/winter “baroque romanticism” collection. Candelabra chandeliers covered in roses and a gilt-framed mirror behind the runway set the scene for stunning golden embroideries, delicate lace dresses, capes of various proportions, rich velvets, and chintzy tapestry-style patterns.

The inspiration was “the tradition of Sicilian baroque”. Translation: A Master Class in Sicilian Chic. The clothes were the absolute top-end of the luxury market with intricate workmanship and expensive detailing. The gold embroidery on capes, coats, skirts and boots was designed to “recall baroque mirrors and frames”. Prints of angels and cherubs and patterns inspired by “dining room tapestries” also featured.”

“The setting was Catens’ High, the music was 1960s rock and the clothes were perfect for a date with Fonzie.

The DSquared2 womenswear winter collection by designing twins Dean and Dan Caten, previewed Monday, the last day of Milan Fashion Week, was all about “Happy Days” and carefree nights.

Teeny bopper models in sequined sneakers and pert caps sported tight cropped jeans or a hip-hugging skirt, paired with colorful leather jackets for a hot date at the movies. The high school dance calls for a switch to high-heeled sequined pumps and beehive hair styles. A banner at the end of the runway tells us this is a party for the graduating class of 2013.

More sophisticated than her grandmother, our teenage queen prefers black to yesteryear pastels for her slit-up the side prom gown. Her escort is in a traditional white tuxedo jacket with black lapel. This girl has expensive tastes. She likes her denimwear trimmed in fur, her blouse covered in pearls, and when she talks leather she means crocodile.”
